Believe In Kindness is a non-profit organization founded in 2017 by Daniella and Fortuna Ludmir that is based in Miami, Florida. It was created to serve underprivileged children in Peru by providing libraries and literary programs to help teach them values that children would usually learn from their homes.
BIK strives to be an agent of social change by teaching kindness and building self-esteem and resilience through curated libraries and instilling strong recreational reading habits as a tool for change. It’s an empowerment program that seeks to ultimately bridge the gap of poverty through literature and build a more resilient society. With the support of a team of professionals, after almost 2 years in the making, Bibliotherapy BIK was developed: a unique approach that combines literature, psychology, and mindfulness based on social-emotional learning, presenting books and reading as a way to escape adversity and as a tool for change. Bibliotherapy BIK has been provided at Puericultorio Perez Aranibar, the largest orphanage in Perú since March 2019, with an outstanding positive impact. Mainly, increasing the love for reading, reducing stress, and improving healthy social interactions amongst the group.
