Updated: Jul 20, 2020

Meet Abigail Harrison, our fourth podcast guest on our podcast DON'T QUIT. DO IT.

available on all podcast platforms.

Abigail "Astronaut Abby" Harrison (astronautabby.com) is an aspiring astronaut and the founder of the international nonprofit organization The Mars Generation. A rising star in her field, she holds a degree in biology from Wellesley College, has interned at a NASA funded astrobiology lab, and has been featured in Forbes, The Wall Street Journal, Seventeen, Marie Claire, Teen Vogue, the BBC, USA Today, CNN, and more. Abby believes that no one is ever too young to pursue their dreams--she herself is living proof of that notion--and she's determined to help as many young people as possible start reaching for their very own stars. Abby lives in Minneapolis.

Beyond a personal aspiration, Abigail has leveraged her passion to excite and inspire other young people to excel in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) and space education. For nearly a decade (since age 13) Abigail has been documenting and sharing her journey toward the red planet on social media and has become a YouTube and Instagram sensation with almost a million followers on social media. Onalytica ranked her #1 for STEM influencers and in the top 10 for space influencers. Recently, she was featured in Marie Claire’s “Could These Women Be the First to Walk on Mars?”

At the age of 18 years old, Abigail and her mom founded The Mars Generation (TMG), a 501(C)(3) nonprofit, to elevate the focus on human space exploration as essential to the future of humankind. In its fifth year, the nonprofit has reached millions with STEM and space resources including mentor-ship and scholarship programs. More importantly, The Mars Generation has started a movement that is inspiring young people to dream big and reach for their dreams.

Abigail has been recognized for her work and dedication with numerous awards and accolades including 2019 Forbes 30 Under 30, 2019 Glamour College Woman of the Year, 2018 TIAA Difference Maker Award, 2017 Eureka! Innovation Award, 2017 Global Connections Top 100 Women, 2016 Ford 20 Under 20 Pioneers in STEAM, 2016 Seventeen Magazine’s 17 Power Teens, and 2014 Scholastic 8 Coolest Kids.
